Here is a photo, from the 1970s, of the famous Etoile du Nord international rail service between Paris and Amsterdam. This has been replaced by a TGV service.
Fast, but not so stylish.

Mini Metro is a transport network building game…I discovered it by accident when I was looking at metro maps. The visual user interface is lovely.
Basically, you have to keep the city running by building a metro system. If the city stops; you lose. Obviously, the city and its population grow, and you get extra resources accordingly. It starts simple and small and gets big and complicated…
It’s a strategic plate-spinning game.
I was reminded of John Conway’s, Game of Life (1970).
And of Ken Garland’s, Harry Beck and dominos inspired, tile game, Connect (1970)
These lovely pictorial flags were made on the west-coast of Africa in the early part of the 20C. The pictorial sophistication is wonderful, and full of energy. A bit like good Ben Nicholson.
Fashion and trains…I remember the LV shoot with Catherine Deneuve
and I posted about my own experience of trains and glamour, here, even before the Deneuve shoot! Good buy, Mr Arnaud.
